Biography
Samuel August is an experienced litigator and effective negotiator whose practice encompasses all Family Court matters, including divorces, child custody disputes, temporary restraining orders, prenuptial agreements, and guardianships.
Navigating the legal system requires the assistance of an attorney whom you trust to advocate on your behalf for the things that matter the most. Samuel works hand in hand with his clients to ensure they achieve the best result possible under difficult and complex circumstances.
The quality of Samuel’s work reflects his continuing commitment to excellence that has earned him numerous accolades throughout his career. Born and raised on Maui, Samuel earned valedictorian honors at Baldwin High School, where he lettered in four sports. Samuel completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana, then graduated with honors from the William S. Richardson School of Law, where he served on the University of Hawaii Law Review and was a recipient of the prestigious U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies fellowship.
Samuel began his legal career in the Washington D.C. office of Norton Rose Fulbright, one of the largest law firms in the world. His clients included Fortune 500 companies and C-suite executives facing enforcement actions by federal government agencies such as the DOJ, SEC, and CFTC.
After returning to Maui to serve the community in which he was raised, Samuel spent several years working at the Office of the Public Defender, where he specialized in family court criminal cases involving misdemeanor and felony abuse charges, as well as violations of temporary restraining orders and protective orders. Prior to opening his firm in 2024, Samuel practiced family law at Lowenthal & Lowenthal.
